On The Go With Paige Campbell Linden

Every month we will follow creatives in the travel industry to speak to you about destinations on the radar, travel tips and more! This month we had the pleasure to catch up with Entrepreneur and Fashion Photographer, Paige whose work take her to Paris, Milan and New York fashion week. Talk about the dream job.

BUSINESS

I became a fashion photographer because...

I first tried to be in front of the lens but I moved on from that and found my groove with photography. Studied fine art photography in college and haven’t looked back. I dip my toes both in fashion and fine art and I figured what better way…

Describe the look and feel of your work...

I’ll leave that for everyone else to interpret.

What is the most challenging part of your work?

I’d say the most challenging part of my work would be being self-employed and learning the ropes of being an entrepreneur. No one’s going to do the work for you. You have to push yourself everyday to make things happen.

Every year you travel to Paris, Milan and New York for fashion week - it seems amazing but we know how chaotic it can all be! Talk to us about that experience.

Traveling for work is something I really enjoy and find inspiring. It’s incredible to be surrounded by everyone in the industry and the work ethic we all have. Working during fashion week is different every time. It’s remarkable that designers are able to push out collections every 6 months…. Or every few months depending on the designer. We are so lucky to be in some amazing cities during this time but we hardly get to enjoy it. Roughly 30 days, shooting, editing, sleeping… maybe a glass of wine here or there. The days are long. For me sleep is most important, where as some may be able to enjoy a night out more than some… I find myself content with a good nights sleep. Paris is my favorite city, so I do my best to try and make it out a few nights there.

IN-FLIGHT

What are three things you never travel without?

My number one… Vitamins. Never without them. Lysol wipes for the plane. Bioderma because I feel like my skin attracts all the strange pollution in the air.

Describe your inflight skincare travel routine?

Typically, I travel with a makeup free face…depending on the flight. I always tend to take red eyes. I would typically do my normal routine at home prior to leaving for the airport. Once on the plane I wait until after dinner is served. I wipe my face with the Bioderma and cotton pads. And bring along my most concentrated moisturizer…I have to many products to pick one. Typically, my favorite of the moment. I’ll use Shisedo’s eye cream, my absolute go-to. I’ll repeat this same routine prior to landing.

What do you think makes or breaks a flying experience?

If you don’t have the luxury of flying first class, I’d say an empty row of seats all to yourself. Spread out, bring on the skin care routine. Also can’t go without a working screen and “free” wine!

DESTINATION

Favorite travel destination? And why?

I don’t think I have a favorite. I’m always looking to explore new places and capture new imagery. Traveling inspires me in so many ways. If I could be a nomad of sorts I would!

As a photographer, what do you look for in a destination?

Typically, I’m not thinking about photographing beforehand. I capture what’s in front of me when I see and however it looks once I arrive. As a photographer, I find inspiration in all places.
