Winter Recess: Anguilla
It’s that time of year again….when the cold temperatures and grey skies have taken a toll on us! Winter break couldn’t come sooner – and this year we have chosen the understated yet stunningly beautiful island of Anguilla. The islands natural beauty is old-news but this oasis is still under-the radar and we like it that way! Here’s an insider guide of where to stay, eat, and do….if you decide to do nothing while you’re there, don’t worry, we won’t judge…after all, you’re out of office.:)
A trusted hotel brand that never disappoints. Four Seasons Anguilla has one of the best addresses in the entire island. Formerly, The Viceroy Hotel…this modern property is perfect for couples, large groups and families. Our Director Of Content stayed in the private residence with 8 other friends and loved it! The private homes come with a private butler and beachfront access. It’s perfect for those who want privacy yet feel like you have arrived to a home away from "home". (Extra Tip: If you stay in the Residence, hire a Chef so that you don't have to worry about cooking while on vacation! So worth it.)
For those craving old-glamour and a smaller luxurious property. Cap Jaluca opened in 1988 and has maintained it’s elegant historic status. The beauty of this property is in the details..the décor is inspired by North Africa...you'll want to take pictures in every corner. Perfect for a solo trip, couples, or families. They have babysitting and a kids’ club on the property – do I hear date night? (Extra tip: If you want to be steps from the sand, choose a room on the ground level.)
Hibernia Restaurant & Art Gallery- romantic atmosphere -great dining experience and wine list!
Drinks at Sunset Lounge Sand Bar - located at The Four Seasons...we loved the live music, food and drinks. Extra tip: Order the Korean Spiced Wings...they are delicious!
Beach Shack Picante - A casual Mexican eatery...go here for the pitchers of Margaritas and food. The scene is very "island chill" but the food is so good.
Beach it: Anguilla is blessed with 33 pristine beaches. Lets just say…you won’t run out of beaches so you might as well try a different one each day. Both properties are located on gorgeous beaches...so lounging in the beach spot everyday is also an option. :)
Is an island trip even complete without a day on a boat? We highly recommend making a stop at Little Bay and Prickly Pear.
Book an alfresco massage at the Four Seasons Spa! The views alone will make it worth.
The boutique at the Four Seasons is one of the best we’ve seen when it comes to resort-wear shopping. So many great selections....you might just want to bring an empty suitcase!
The island is upscale but understated. This is why we loved it so much – Anguilla is more low-key than its neighboring island, St. Barts…you travel to Anguilla for its natural beauty not for partying.
This is the perfect island for those looking to be off-the-radar and spend time eating well and reading a good book on the beach.
