High Altitude Attitude: Meet the Founders
High Altitude Attitude: Meet the Founders
The seed for Ametti was planted 12 years ago when Tessa and Jessie first met. Inspired by their experiences in the travel and fashion industry, Ametti was born from the desire to create stylish yet practical products that women can feel their best in. More than just the founders of Ametti, these women are making waves by impacting the way women travel for leisure and business by providing them with more than just products but also tips and guides that will help them in all the areas of their travel lifestyle.
1 . What inspired you to create AMETTI?
Tessa: I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart. I created my first little enterprise when I was 15, selling t-shirts with a collective in a workshop/garage. So, it’s safe to say, that creating a company was my little girl dream. Ametti was inspired by my lifestyle in particular, the past 8 years. I was CCO of a company for about 6 years and it took me all over the place, literally travelling at least 4 days a week. Traveling for work might sound glamorous and amazing to some people, but the reality is very different. Travelling is very tough on you. As a woman I started relying on all the little things that could help me make my travelling lifestyle more comfortable. It’s hard to always be far from home… so home becomes all these little things you take with you.
Jessie: I think women right now are adapting to the world of travel as opposed to identifying with it. Ametti was inspired in the gap between style and travel. I think as a fashion designer who constantly was on the go, I subconsciously developed the interest in learning and personally understanding the compromise between designer handbags and masculine luggage. And although I do admire how the daily or monthly rituals of traveling have advanced since the 50’s, it is safe to say they have not advanced in style nor has anyone taken the time to orchestrate the expansion or growth in the traveling world for a fashionable woman.
2. How are you hoping to impact the way women travel?
Tessa: Hopefully giving them all these beautiful things will make them feel pretty and at home everywhere they go. Women are the travelers of the future and I hope Ametti can start this lifestyle and conversation. Our goal is to offer great products with a luxury feminine aesthetics and more! I truly hope Ametti becomes the answer to helping business women travel better with all the tips and support they need.
Jessie: Right now, when we think about what we travel with, we think about practicality, not about style, I think our greatest impact to women travelers will be to provide them both.
3. What brought you two together in this business partnership?
Tessa: Well probably a bit of everything… mainly the beauty of meeting amazing people in life. Jessie and I, we met a long time ago, about 12 years and we became friends right away because we both were very driven women. We were full of ideas and dreams… We were meant to start a business together even back when we first met.
Jessie: I think Tessa and I created this business partnership the moment we met. But I think Ametti was created from our passion and drive to create something new.
4. If you could explain the brand ethos in three words what would they be?
Tessa: Playful, sincere and polished
Jessie: Identity, empowerment, femininity
5. Is there a particular period in time that connects with the brand? And why?
Tessa: Imagine the aesthetics of the 50’s with women breaking free and the possibilities that inspired for the future
Jessie: Besides loving the visual identity that comes with the 1950s, I love that women have grown free from the gender roles society gave them in that period. I think Ametti is rooted from the underlying tone of both.
6. Describe your version of the perfect travel destination.
Tessa: A real journey, which gives you authentic encounters. A destination where you feel you can somehow discover a truth. A place that takes over your habits and rhythm with a local scene and of course a beautiful hotel where service is a culture, not a task. Let’s not forget about a food scene, me and my love…we can’t live without great food. :)
Jessie: Instagrammable sunsets, trip advisor’s top picked restaurants, and 5-star interiors.
7. What are three essentials you ALWAYS travel with?
Tessa: Oh, I have so many! 25 lipsticks, one for every mood. My computer is a must, because I like working on the beach under a palm tree. I go blind without sunglasses, but I always bring 3 pairs for different outfits. Oh, and one of my signatures… a specific music playlist on my Spotify that works with the destination.
Jessie: Face moisturizer, phone and a hat or sunglasses.
